(Ay,shout out to @Leighton Meester and @Kanye for bringing those lyrics to the world.)
The world has gone cold. Literally. It's cold out there. Don't make me get out from under my covers, please.
Needless to say, we have packed up our boats (both the Queen's Sailing Team boats, and our own little one). It is time to put that part of our training on hold, and work on our dryland training. Fire me up!
Our training is now focused on getting big and strong, so that we can sail our boat better and better. We are oiling the engine that is our body. Yep. We've got this.
I have been training with CrossFit Queen Street, and loving it. Focusing a lot on strength, and maintain good conditioning, while incorporating mobility and gymnastics. It sounds like a lot, and it is. I try to spend 2hrs in the gym Monday to Friday, my work schedule permitting and my body permitting. To be fair, a training day on the water would be around 3-4hrs of sailing, plus some sort of strength or conditioning work as well. So really, 2hrs in the gym is barely enough to keep up the volume. But it works, seeing results coming in slowly. Case in point: I can now touch my toes! I'm impressed. (No, I am NOT kidding.)
